The almost 300 mile long Benton MacKaye Trail passes right through the Hiwassee River Gorge from Childer's Creek to Big Bend to Towee Creek and up past the Powerhouse. This particular section of the trail is also part of the John Muir Trail as he passed this way during his Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf, writing in 1867 "My path today led me along the leafy banks of the Hiwassee, a most impressive mountain river".

We sit along that path, ready to resupply your 21 mile JMT hike or your 300 miles Benton MacKaye hike! We offer food, campsites, cold beverages, a deli menu, and resupplies by mail if you'd like to have your new shoes, stove fuel, repair kits, or anything else shipped here. Just call ahead and let us know if something is coming our way or if we can help you find something, we'd be delighted to help out!

Visit bmta.org for more info about the trail

We also sit alongside the Trans-America Trail (TAT), a motorcycle trail comprised of both paved and non-paved roads from the Atlanta Ocean to the Pacific Northwest. Reliance Fly & Tackle offers beautiful scenery, winding roads, fishing, hiking, resupply, gas, and camping for riders looking for a brief respite without leaving the natural beauty they took to the trail to enjoy.

If you're planning a section of the TAT or riding the whole trail, please stop in and say hi! We'd love to hear from you!
